Memberships

The iAPSP grants memberships to security and event safety  personnel, allowing them to have a unionised collective voice to communicate, representatives of the union to endorse you being a member is also knowing you are part of something bigger, and have the support of the Association when you need it.

Assess candidates for inclusion on the national register of professional Private Security Individuals. They can also be licensed to accredit academic programmes and professional development schemes.

Licensed individuals are deemed to have sufficient experience, procedures and resources to undertake the following tasks:

• Assess the competence and commitment of candidates for membership
• Monitor the continuing professional development of members
• Monitor the conduct of members 

Lapsed Membership/ member
A member may be reinstated within three years of membership/member lapsing but will be required to pay an administrative fee . If the member has lapsed for more than three years, the individual must reapply and will be subject to a full professional review. 

Newly Registered Operatives
The iAPSP will be publishing a quarterly listing of newly registered members on our own website. 

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which requires specific consent from each registrant to publish their details, will be respected at all times. An authorisation form will issued and requested to be signed given us permission to publish on website.

 We are putting in place plans to publicly recognise the achievement of new registrants and to enable the Membership status of a security to be verified, which include working towards a publicly searchable Register. 

If you need to verify the member of a iAPSP, please email your request to member@iAPSP.org.uk and provide the following information:

• Full name
• Date-of-birth
• iAPSP member number

Initially the fees are paid to the organisation through which you are a members directly to iAPSP. The organisation then passes them on to iAPSP who in turn creates a savings deposit  which it can be used to help members of the organisation , to keep the standards under review, operate the register and quality assure the licensed individuals  The remaining sum is used by iAPSP to promote the Private Security Profession. This includes producing the iAPSP report and supporting “The Security Profession” programme and The yearly Security Fair. We are looking to raise money and put it towards our members. 

iAPSP membership carries benefits and privileges as well as responsibilities. This is our guidance on member conduct expected of you.

• Do not take any action which could bring the profession into disrepute
• Uphold the law
• Have high regard for public health, security and well-being of your client and others
• Respect lawful rights of Third Parties and do not infringe those
• Carry out your professional responsibilities with due care, attention and diligence in accordance with the law
• Behave with honesty and integrity
• Maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct; this includes online social media communications
• Only undertake duties and provide services within your professional competence
• Avoid injuring others, their property, by malicious or negligent action or inaction
• Reject any unethical inducement
• Avoid any situation that may give rise to a conflict of interest with iAPSP
• Do not engage in improper use of information acquired as a member of the iAPSP
• Avoid engaging in action unbefitting to iAPSP or likely to bring disrepute upon iAPSP
• Do not disclose any information which is confidential to the iAPSP or its members
